2 Hopkins Plaza – Structural Rehabilitation
Project type
Structural Restoration / Concrete & Steel Rehabilitation
Date
2018
Location
Baltimore, MD
ew&r executed a full structural rehabilitation program at the 2 Hopkins Plaza complex in downtown Baltimore, addressing extensive deterioration across concrete, masonry, and steel systems within the multi-level garage, lobby, and service areas.
The project involved complete demolition and reconstruction of CMU walls, installation of new structural steel lintels, removal and replacement of large topping slabs, slab-on-foam concrete overlays, trench drain installation, and restoration of pedestrian and vehicular access zones including stairs, landings, and protective railings.
Work required precision coordination to maintain building operations throughout demolition and curing activities, ensuring safe access for tenants and staff. The rehabilitation strengthened key structural components, improved drainage performance, and enhanced long-term safety and stability.
Through this project, ew&r delivered a durable and code-compliant restoration engineered to extend the building’s service life and support continued operation of one of Baltimore’s premier downtown high-rise facilities.
